Next Cafe

Next Cafe, a newly opened car themed cafe is located on Ardross street in Applecross. Although the size of the cafe is not that big, I was pretty impressed by their service and menu.

As I entered the cafe a lady (staff) gave me a big smile and kindly showed us their menu. I had to sit down and think what to have… they have a wide range of drink menu.

They have normal cappuccino and also some unique flavored coffees such as Iced Strawberry Espresso with Soda and Hawaiian Coffee, as well as Iced Red Bean and Iced Fruit Punch. One of their menu “Passion Me” is often consumed in Italy in summer, as the combination of passion fruit juice and coffee gives very sweet and refreshing taste. “Alpes Coffe” is named after its looking – a white snow (thick milk froth) topped on a double espresso and hazelnut syrup.

After browsing the menu for few minutes, my fiance and I decided to have orange latte and coconut cappuccino.

The staff asked me if I needed some sugar with coffee. I told her “no” as I don’t usually put sugar to my coffee. Then she said “this coffee is already pretty sweet.” I tasted orange latte, and it was, yes, really sweet! Ummm it was too sweet to me but I’m sure lots of people will like this type of sweet coffee. Then I tried coconut cappuccino; it smelled coconut syrup, but didn’t really taste coconut. :p Well, I loved nicely brewed coffee and fluffy milk froth very much though. The decoration on the milk froth was really cute, and I could feel that these coffee were made with care. 🙂

i will definitely come back here to try other drinks. Currently they are doing “$2.00 coffee on Tuesday” and “$3.50 cake on Thursday”.

Oh, and, I loved their interior too 🙂

    Wow!

    That place looks really cool!
I love the theme and the attention to detail.
Do they do a maccha latte?

Not sure if I like coffee too sweet though…

This is one of my favorite coffees.
It’s called a “Bonus Cup” and it’s invented by my favorite band, The Descendents.

    1/3 cup instant coffee grounds
    hot water
    5 spoons of sugar

    It’s AMAZING! #_#

I don’t remember seeing maccha latte on their menu, so I believe they don’t have.. but they may add it to their menu if there’re some demands.

“Bonus Cup” … the ratio of coffee and sugar must be the perfect one for you.
I personally don’t add sugar to coffee at all. I like black coffee, but also enjoy sweet flavored coffees too.
I will try making your “Bonus Cup” and give you a review 🙂

    U-chan!

I need to find somewhere that does a good maccha latte! I think Icey Ice does one but I’ve yet to try it 😛

You like coffee black coffee without sugar? I love drinking black coffee but only when I’m really angry >:)
    Is that a bit strange?

But besides that I’ll always have some sugar because I like the contrast of sweetness of sugar with the bitterness of coffee.

I’ve never tried icy ice maccha flavor too,
I heard from Angie (my blog friend 🙂 ) that Machca latte at Cafe Noel in Applecross was really nice. I’ve been wanting to try this place but not yet :p

I’ve never add sugar to my coffee since I was in Japan. But, when I buy a coffee from convenience stores and vending machines I sometimes choose flavored coffees (which is little sweet).
My dad never drink a coffee with sugar nor milk, so it might one of the reasons why I don’t add sugar to coffee. Maybe I’m trying to be like him :p

You drink black coffee only when you are angry! Umm.. maybe it’s because the caffein in coffee eases your anger??

Since I came to Perth I’ve been drinking more sweet coffee than black coffee… My taste changed ! (>0<) But I still love drinking black coffee (without sugar or milk) in the morning and after a meal.

I’ve been to Cafe Noel and tried the matcha latte. I think its pretty good too! Btw, i went to sizzle mania yday! The food is pretty decent, but somehow i thought that the hotplate was not hot enough. 🙁 But the taste was not too bad. 😀

Yeah the maccha icey ice is so amazing! Especially in the summer! I live about 2-3mins drive from Icey Ice so I would go there a lot.
But you have to get the maccha icey ice and not the snow as it still tastes a little like Azuki 😛

I should have a look around at all the cafes in Applecross, they all seems so good. My parents live in Applecross so maybe I’ll take them there.

Black coffee after a meal would be very good! I might try that after lunch tomorrow.

    YL,

Whaaa everyone have been to this place but me! (>0<) Your story (not hot hotplate) reminds me of Arrirang on Barrack street... when I went there last time the grill on our table wasn't working properly and couldn't bbq meat. I asked staff if we could change the table but they said we can't - it was Saturday night :p So we were patiently cooking meat on warm grill... it was terrible 🙁 Anyway, I hope Sizzle Mania's hotplate is hot enough to cook my meal next time I go there 🙂

    Bishonencam,

It’s so nice to live close to the shop in summer!
You mean, Maccha icey ice and Maccha icey snow are different? Snow got azuki topping or something?

I hope you and your parents enjoy hanging around Applecross. (^v^)

  9. 9 Bishonencam said at 3:35 pm on August 19th, 2009:

Yeah it’s weird like, the Maccha snow tastes a little bit like Azuki even when it’s not on there. If you get it as a crepe with Maccha snow, it comes with Azuki on it. But even as maccha snow in a cup by itself still tastes Azuki-y 😛

BUT! Maccha iceyice tastes just like maccha only and it’s AWESOME!!! ^_^

    Bishonencam,

Well I will definitely try Maccha iceyice !! The shop smells so great every time I walk pass…

The cafe is so nice and different to all the others. I will definitely spread the word to all of my friends.

Do you know that they have a page on facebook? I have joined as a fan already.. LOL.

If you haven’t, here is the link: http://companies.to/nextcafe.

BTW they have changed the menu (much better than the one that you have seen) and the opening hours which are on the facebook’s page.
