Character Bento

My friend sent me a photo of very cute Bento box:)  These characters are from Japanese cartoon called An-Pan-Man, and it’s very famous in Japan.  The An-Pan-Man is not known here in Perth and Indonesia,  I wonder why…  I like the cartoon and the characters are very cute!  I used to watch the cartoon on tv when I was little:)

That cartoon is too Japanese, I think, for most overseas markets.
The food and culture is Anpanman is hard to explain to people in other countries. (I tried to explain it to my family in the U.S. when my kids were little and they watched Anpanman).

But I heard that some other Asian countries watch Anpanman and Doraemon even though they’re both very Japanese.
I heard that in India (I think it was India…I can’t remember) watches Doraemon and he eats “crackers” instead of ドラ焼き!

Anyways, we went to the “Anpanman” museum in 横浜 (Yokohama) recently…

Ummm yeah maybe An-Pan-Man is too Japanese:p
Doraemon is in many countries though. In Indonesia Doraemon is very very popular! My partner’s sister collects lots of Doraemon goods and her house is full of Doraemon!
    I don’t know what’s so different from An-Pan-Man and Doraemon:p

    It seems Anpanman is, too.
I had a visitor to my blog who was from Sri Lanka…he said he watched Anpanman in his country when he was a child.

In Sri Lanka, Anpanman‘s name is “Gnana Katha Malliya”って!(I don’t know how to pronounce that!).

He blogged about seeing Anpanman when he visited Tokyo recently.
    His blog is here: http://movingimages.wordpress.com/2008/11/02/encounter-with-anpanman-a-superman-made-of-bread/

They show Dragon Ball in Australia?
(I’ve never watched Dragon Ball…I don’t have any sons!!)

When I was a kid in America, I used to watch 「ガっチャマン」 in English. I didn’t know it was a Japanese cartoon until I came to Japan!
