Do you like bagels??
Posted February 11th, 2009 in Food, Perth WA 10 Comments »I wrote a post about bagels here, and I’ve tried bagels at the Trackside Bakery down by the Perth Train Station as Angie recommended me. I loved the whole “bakery smell” 🙂 Freshly baked bread… yum! and bagels are really nice! but I wish there are more bagel shops in Perth.
I’m starting to wonder… do people in Perth know what the bagel is?? I mean, of course some people should know, but is it like 20% of the population?? Not so many shops sell bagels, does it mean people here prefer soft & light bread?
Personally I love hard, crusty and difficult-to-tear-off type of bread. I can get those hard crusty bread from my favorite bakery, but sadly they don’t sell bagels on regular bases 🙁
Do you like soft bread, or hard bread??
Where is the bagel shop?? i want to try that oreo bagel!! looks yummy… what else do they have there?
Hi Iruma
Oh no, actually these photos are bagels from Japan.
I wish I could get it here too…
but, you know what? I will let you know once I find a place where you can get one of those. I have an idea… :p
Hi there, thanks for the mention. Some people do know what bagels are in Perth, some do. I can’t recall if I have mentioned this earlier, so please pardon my forgetful memory, but I have also posted about my recent-ish bagel hunt at http://wanderinggourmet.net/?p=318 🙂
Angie,
Thanks for the link. I actually haven’t been to the Kosher Food Centre, but I really think I should try one of those plain bagels! Are they handmade??
Bagels are kind of Jewish food… is there any other Jewish bakeries around Perth?
There are many bagel shops in Tokyo!
>Do you like soft bread, or hard bread??
My wife likes that hard European-style bread like you do.
As for me, I like very soft bread!
I love the Japanese パン屋さん 「Vie De France」. Do you know it?
Hi Tokyo 5 🙂
That’s the big reason why I miss Japan so much! So many kinds of food are available there 🙂
I love Vie De France. Isn’t is a franchise from another country?? or is it Japanese?
Japanese bread are awesome… I really miss them. I love Melon Pan (the one with hard crust!), Ogura Pan, and Takoyaki Pan!
Takoyaki bread??
Wow! Must be a 関西 thing! I’ve never seen that one.
Vie De France started as an American company, but Yamazaki Bread Co bought them. So it’s Japanese now.

I actually didn’t realize that Takoyaki bread was only available in Kansai area! You should try one if you have chance to go to Kansai 🙂
I had thought that bagel is common bread also in Australia until you told me it is not.
just people might not know bagel and how delicious it is??
if so, I wanna you to make it popular by yourself(^o^)
Yutsuki 🙂
Maybe in Sydney or Melbourne, it is.
>I wanna you to make it popular by yourself
I hope so too!
