Popcorn

Recently I bought this retro-looking popcorn machine for my home.  Popcorn is not really my favorite snack, but it’s just for fun 🙂  No oil needed, so it’s kinda healthy.

Searching about the popcorn machine online reminded me of a popcorn vending machine in Japan.  The machines were usually in shopping centers, and I used to get popcorn often from the machine when I was little.

The body of the machine is gray-haired guy, and you could choose 5 flavors: butter, salt, caramel, BBQ and mayonnaise.  It costed 100 yen a cup of popcorn so I could buy with my pocket money 🙂

Once you get in the floor in the shopping center where the machine is located, you wouldn’t miss the smell of popcorn…  Smells so nice!! (>0<)  The smell always made me buy a cup of popcorn :p

Apparently there are other models of popcorn machines in Japan, like Hello Kitty.

Have you ever been to Tokyo Disneyland? Have you tried their flavored popcorn?

I heard that only Tokyo Disneyland has flavored popcorn…the other Disney parks around the world don’t have it.

    (Speaking of Tokyo Disneyland:

Yes I have been to Disneyland (of course!)
There are many character shape things, like ice-cream, a meal in a restaurant, even the window on the train is mickey shape 🙂

I’m not surprised to hear that Tokyo Disneyland has something which other country doesn’t have. Japan is very unique.

Yes. And the train straps, too!

Actually Tokyo Disneyland is the only Disney park in the world that isn’t owned by the Disney Company! It’s owned and run by a Japanese company called “Oriental Land Company”.

Me too!! smell is tempting but I’m not really big fun of the taste and texture.
Maybe it’s ok just to snack on. with no butter. 🙂

    >how about Disney Sea?

Yes. Oriental Land Company owns “Tokyo Disneyland”, “Tokyo DisneySea”, “Ikispiari”, and all “Disney Stores” in Japan (including “Bon Voyage!”).

Before Tokyo Disneyland, there were no Disney parks outside the U.S.
The Oriental Land Company asked the Disney company if they could make the first overseas Disneyland.

At that time, I’ve heard, the Disney Company didn’t think Disneyland would be popular in Japan (or any other country outside the U.S.) so they agreed.

Tokyo Disney Resort is the most popular and most profitable of all the Disney parks!

The Oriental Land Company has to pay the Disney Company for the rights to use the Disney characters…but they are the owners of the park (the Disney Company, I’ve heard, wants to buy Tokyo Disneyland but Oriental Land Company won’t sell it!)

Interesting… so it was a big success for Oriental Land Company 🙂
    Well done!
